MICROVASCULAR CORONARY DYSFUNCTION AFFECTS GLOBAL LONGITUDINAL STRAIN AFTER DIPYRIDAMOLE STRESS ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY
Ercole Tagliamonte, Circulation 2020
GLS analysis, particularly performed by comparing dipyridamole peak-dose with baseline values, shows that in patients with CMD there is a different response of left ventricular myocardiim to stress test.
It could be assumed that the inverse correlation between CFR and delta GLS reflects a progressive subclinical worsening of left ventricular myocardial function in these patients.
Two-dimensional strain, allowing accurate and reproducible measurement of myocardial function, proved to be particularly useful in the early identification of subclinical abnormalities occurring in various clinical settings and usually preceding the impairment of other parameters such as radial wall thickening and ejection fraction.
CONTROVERSIAL QUESTION: OPTIMIZING THERAPY IN SYMPTOMATIC STABLE CAD PATIENTS TREATED WITH BETA-BLOCKERS
Ercole Tagliamonte, Medicographia 2017
Stable angina pectoris is the most common manifestation of coronary artery disease (CAD). Although the annual mortality rate is relatively low, anginal symptoms are often disabling. The aims of treatment are to relieve anginal symptoms and improve the quality of life. In patients who remain symptomatic despite optimal medical treatment, there is evidence that coronary revascularization improves anginal symptoms.
IVABRADINE AND BISOPROLOL ON DOPPLER-DERIVED CORONARY FLOW VELOCITY RESERVE IN PATIENTS WITH STABLE CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE: BEYOND THE HEART RATE.
Ercole Tagliamonte, Adv Ther. 2015
In patients with stable Coronary Artery Disease ivabradine has a better effect on improving Coronary Flow Reserve, compared with bisoprolol, despite similar lowering of heart rate. These is probably due to a better effect of ivabradine on diastolic phase of cardiac cycle.
